Boiler Servicing

Ideally your boiler should be getting serviced every 12 months. This will keep your manufacturer warranty intact and keep your boiler safe from future problems.

Your boiler will strain every single day when you use your hot water and your central heating system. In the colder months your boiler works harder and has a much greater chance of breaking down. In the hotter months, your boiler is used less. Weeks of minimal activity may cause seizures or other common problems to occur. We recommend the best time of year to service your boiler is in Autumn or Spring.

Every boiler Tiger Gas install comes with a guarantee from the manufacturer. Most boilers come with a warranty of 5-10 years. The manufacturer requires you to service your boiler annually. This small investment of £70/year could potentially save you from hundreds being spent on a breakdown repair or damage significant enough to force thousands being spend on a boiler replacement.

We begin with a visual inspection ensuring the boiler and related pipework are installed and positioned correctly.

To ensure all components are performing optimally, we will remove the cover and begin cleaning and checking each component.

The engineer will check the following:

• Correct gas pressure and flow
• Flue and combustion. A flue gas analyser will be used to make sure the boiler is burning the right mixture of gas and air and that the flue is not blocked
• Electrical connections are clean and in good condition
• Fans and other key components are working efficiently
• Seals are intact
• Electrodes are in a good condition
• Safety devices are checked
• Condensate trap and pipe is not blocked
• Water and gas pipework

You will be informed if your boiler is not meeting any building and safety legislation and regulations during our checks. We will show you and explain to you exactly what and why. Any repairs or maintenance which needs to be undertaken will be explained to you before we go any further. 

All parts in which a Tiger Gas engineer will use will be manufacturer approved. Typically for a boiler service, if everything goes well, will take up to an hour.

Yes. A boiler service extends the life of your boiler significantly. Every boiler is built to an extremely high standard and typically lasts 10-15 years. A small investment per year into servicing your boiler will mean your boiler will last. If you don't service your boiler; you will lose your warranty and may have to pay up to 20x the price of the service for a boiler repair. 

A one off boiler service will provide you with a detailed guide of how efficiently and effective your boiler is running. If you are out of your warranty for whatever the reason may be. It could be that it has naturally expired or perhaps you have simply forgotten to service your boiler and it's become void. It happens, don't worry.

If we think your boiler is on the brink of a major breakdown and it may be wise to think about replacing it. We will tell you. You will get an accurate timeframe of when this may occur and what your options are. Then it is up to you.

As soon as the boiler service has been completed. Your Tiger Gas engineer will update your manufacturer paperwork which you can view yourself.
